🔐 Microsoft Purview DLP Gets Smarter with Automated Alert Management

Security teams spend valuable time reviewing alerts that often follow predictable patterns. Microsoft is helping reduce that burden with a new Microsoft Purview Data Loss Prevention (DLP) capability: rule-based alert tagging and auto-resolution.

With this enhancement, organisations can define rules that automatically handle DLP alerts based on business needs:

Automatically resolve low-priority alerts that don’t require investigation, helping reduce noise in security queues.

Automatically tag alerts to simplify filtering, routing, and reporting. For example, alerts generated by the Legal department can be categorised as a specific business process.

This new capability can help security and compliance teams focus on the alerts that matter most while improving operational efficiency across the organisation.

📅 Preview: August 2026
📅 General Availability: September 2026
🌍 Availability: Worldwide (Standard Multi-Tenant)
🆔 Roadmap ID: 568371

A welcome enhancement for organisations looking to streamline DLP operations and reduce alert fatigue.

Motivational quote:

“To each there comes in their lifetime a special moment when they are figuratively tapped on the shoulder and offered the chance to do a very special thing, unique to them and fitted to their talents. What a tragedy if that moment finds them unprepared or unqualified for that which could have been their finest hour.” – Sir Winston Churchill
